Preparing to Teach A Classroom Champions Lesson

Wondering how to start a lesson? Here are some tips to get started with a Classroom Champions Lesson.

When preparing to teach a unit, it is essential to review the unit in depth. We recommend:

  • Reading the thematic overview in depth. The thematic overview helps build your understanding of the content students will learn in the unit.
  • After reading the thematic overview, we recommend reading through all of the lessons, watching the mentor videos, and creating a plan for how you will teach all of the lessons.Doing this work BEFORE you teach the unit will set you up for success when you go to teach the unit.

Within the unit plan you will notice 4 lessons.

These lessons are intended to be 30 minutes long.

Each lesson has essential questions, objectives, key vocabulary, and materials & preparation.

The structure of the lessons is always the same.

  • Opening Activity
  • Guided Practice
  • Independent Practice
  • Closing activity

This consistent structure sets you and your students up for success!

To keep your lessons organized, we recommend marking your lessons completed by clicking the checkmark next to each lesson.
